'Scary' night in N.Y. for Guillen

Ozzie Guillen wasn't with the White Sox on Sept. 11, 2001, when they were in New York preparing to play the Yankees before the World Trade Center was attacked by terrorists.

But Guillen and the rest of the Sox were in New York on Saturday night, just two blocks away from a smoking sport utility vehicle that was carrying a bomb. Guillen told reporters at Yankee Stadium on Sunday he was up until 3 a.m. watching news of the incident.

"Things were kind of scary," Guillen said.

Lucy sent down: To clear a roster spot for backup catcher Ramon Castro, the White Sox optioned Donny Lucy to Class AAA Charlotte after Sunday's 12-3 loss to the Yankees.

Lucy played well for the Sox, batting .333 (5-for-15) with 3 doubles, 1 home run and 2 RBI in seven games. He started five games.

Castro landed on the disabled list on April 4 (retroactive to March 29) with a bruised right heel. The 34-year-old catcher was 2-for-13 with 1 home run and 2 RBI in four rehab games with Charlotte.

Still struggling: Mark Buehrle had another rough start Sunday, allowing New York 5 runs on 10 hits in 42/3 innings.

Buehrle (2-4, 5.30 ERA) has lost 4 straight starts while giving up 18 earned runs on 32 hits over 221 innings. His WHIP (walks and hit per inning) is up to 1.42.

"It's obviously frustrating," Buehrle said. "It's a combination of things, not making good pitches."
