Murray: Game 1 simply slipped away from the Hawks

Q. What happened to the Blackhawks in Game 1?A. I think the game kind of slipped away from the Blackhawks. I think those 2 goals - at the end of the first period and the beginning of the second - kind of deflated their attempt to get back in the hockey game, and Vancouver never really allowed them the opportunity to get back in.All of a sudden instead of being 1 down, they're 3 down just like that, and they weren't able to regroup.Q. Duncan Keith said he thought the Hawks were slow Saturday. Did you see that too?A. I definitely didn't think they had their best game. But I think for the first half of the first period they had some really good opportunities and if one of those chances goes in it's a different situation. When Christian Ehrhoff scored the first goal, it seemed like mentally they weren't able to overcome that. They mentally weren't at their best and give Vancouver a lot of credit, but there definitely is a huge upside to what the Blackhawks can bring Monday.Q. What's the upside?A. Well I don't think they played anywhere near their capabilities. They have to go up to another level or this will be a quick series. The pace of their game - their passing wasn't crisp. I think more than anything it was a mental letdown more than physical and as soon as you do that, everything else sort of falls apart.Q. How do the Hawks shake off Game 1?A. They have to come out and show Vancouver this is going to be a lot harder series. You have guys that can put the puck in the net and so does Vancouver. The compete level for the second round of the playoffs has to be a lot higher than it was in Game 1. bull; You can hear Troy Murray's analysis on every Blackhawks radio broadcast on WGN 720-AM.
