Wizards sign Martin to 10-day deal

WASHINGTON-- The Washington Wizards have signed swingman Cartier Martin to a 10-day contract.

Martin was signed Tuesday to replace Alonzo Gee, who just completed two 10-day contracts with the Wizards. Washington planned to sign him for the rest of the season, but Gee opted to sign with the San Antonio Spurs.

The Wizards also learned that guard Randy Foye has a strained ligament in his left wrist and will be out at least seven to 10 days. Coach Flip Saunders said it would be "very optimistic" to expect Foye to play again this season.

Martin was averaging 17.3 points for the D-League's Iowa Energy. He also played 10 games for the Golden State Warriors this season, averaging 9.0 points and 4.7 rebounds.
