Caustic liquid used in Ford Heights attack

Cook County Sheriff's Police say four women suffered chemical burns in a caustic liquid attack in the southern Chicago suburb of Ford Heights.

Sheriff's police spokesman Steve Patterson says the attack occurred late Wednesday afternoon.

Patterson says the four people involved were talking in a front yard when a quarrel began, and a 17-year-old female left. He says she returned with the liquid and threw it on the faces, chests and arms of the others, aged 18, 25, and 41.

Patterson says the woman suffered serious burns herself.

The four were taken to St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, where two remained under treatment Wednesday night. Patterson said the woman suspect and one victim were seriously enough injured that they were transferred to the Loyola University Health System Burn center in Maywood for specialized treatment.
