Crystal Lake man charged in Saturday stabbing

Police have arrested a Crystal Lake man in connection with a Saturday morning stabbing.

Feliciano Zarate, 31, of the 100 block of Woodstock Street, has been charged with armed violence and aggravated battery for causing permanent disfigurement. Police say he stabbed another man in the face with a knife.

Bond information was not available Sunday night.

Police say that at 4:05 a.m., officers went to the Crystal Lake Apartments, on the 100 block of Woodstock Street, for the stabbing.

Officers found the victim, a 28-year-old man, in front of the apartment complex and located Zarate a short time after he fled to a neighboring apartment within the same complex, police said.

Police say Zarate stabbed the victim once in the right cheek.

Cmdr. Michael Brichetto, who said the stabbing was not gang related, says the pair know each other but that he could not comment on what led to the stabbing.

The victim was transported to Centrega Hospital in Woodstock, where he was treated and released Saturday, according to a nursing supervisor.

Armed violence is a Class X felony with a sentence ranging between six and 30 years.
