Geneva's Heartland School promotes principal

Heartland Elementary School's interim principal now has the job for real.

The Geneva school board Monday made Adam Law the permanent principal.

Law served as interim principal this school year when Margaret Pennington became a central office administrator.

Before that, he was an assistant principal at Geneva Middle School South.

"While there were no assurances that Mr. Law would be named principal of Heartland Elementary School, during our search process it was clear that Mr. Law had strong support among staff and parents based on his performance as interim principal this past year," Superintendent Kent Mutchler said.

More than 40 people applied for the job.

Officials are searching for a new principal to replace Dan Killeen at Harrison Street Elementary School. He is resigning, effective June 30.

Killeen could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
