While not many kids are thrilled to leave summer vacation behind and head back to classes, it was hard not to catch the infectious enthusiasm of Principal Kenneth Hyllberg as he welcomed students back to Arnett C. Lines Elementary School in Barrington on Tuesday.

Hyllberg exchanged high-fives and handshakes in and out of the Barrington Unit School District 220 building as he greeted his young charges returning for another year of learning. He even made plans to sign the cast on the broken arm of 7-year-old Hannah Delack.

District 220 educates about 9,000 students at its eight elementary schools, two middle schools, high school and early education center. It serves 12 northwest suburban communities in Cook, Lake, Kane and McHenry counties.
