Don Yenko made quite a name for himself, crafting custom, high powered Camaros out of his Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Chevy dealership. Decades later, his legacy lives on, thanks to Specialty Vehicle Engineering Inc.
The New Jersey-based company has announced the availability of a 2018 Yenko/SC Stage II Camaro. Only 25 will be built and all are based on the factory 2018 SS 1LE Camaro.
The Yenko Camaro will be available only in coupe form and equipped with a manual transmission. Underhood is a custom-built, 416-cubic-inch, supercharged V-8, capable of 1,000 horsepower and 875 foot-pounds of torque.
Other features included are magnetic ride control, electronic limited-slip differential; a performance-tuned suspension with unique bushings, springs and stabilizer bars; and heavy-duty cooling system with engine oil cooler, dual outboard radiators, transmission cooler and rear differential cooler.
The special Camaro also includes Brembo brakes with six-piston front calipers and 14.5-inch rotors, and four-piston rear calipers with 13.3-inch rotors.
The carbon fiber hood has a scoop that is nonfunctional. There's also unique sill plates, grill badge and floor mats, all wearing the iconic red, white and blue Yenko crest.
Extra options include getting the supercharger and brake calipers painted and an embroidered front headrest. Customers can also opt for a side stripe, reminiscent of the ones worn by 1969 Yenko Camaros.
The vehicles costs just under $67,000, plus whatever options are added on. Each of these 25 vehicles will be numbered and include a manufacturer's certificate of origin.
They'll be available exclusively through GM dealers through the United States and Canada and can be had in 10 factory paint color choices. Seven colors are available for the hood stripe and side graphics. A warranty is offered and provides coverage for three years or 36,000 miles.
