Let courts determine truth of harassment
Prior to the 1960s, the law was based upon the social belief that men were supposed to be sexually aggressive and to always want sex. Women were believed to have far less desire. A proper woman was to never say that she wanted sex, but to convey desire through the implications of actions which men were to correctly interpret.
In the 1960s, women's lib pushed the ideas that women have as much sexual desire as men, the same right as men to be aggressive, and "no means no" when a woman says it. In the 1970s, laws changed and many women started coming on to men.
When a man said no, it was taken as personal insult and humiliation. Women sometimes exploded in anger, belittled and physically attacked men who said no. The most common reaction was to deny coming on to the man and falsely accuse him of harassment or perversion as vindication.
I have seen numerous incidents when a woman falsely accused an innocent man to vent anger toward someone else or men in general or to vindicate rejection. I have no doubt that there are some women who will falsely accuse a prominent man to vent personal anger, for money, or for attention.
An accusation is not proof of wrongdoing. The idea that a woman is to be believed until proven wrong has unfairness. The world is full of liars, so how do we know who is telling the truth? Unfortunately, the liars hurt the masses who are making truthful claims. Judgement of accusations should be left to the courts. A woman who abuses a man needs to be punished as much as a man who abuses a woman.
