Holiday Sing-a-long Concert to Feature Adler Center, Highland Students
David Adler Music and Arts Center students and Highland Middle School students will play and sing holiday songs for a cause at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, at Highland Middle School, 310 W. Rockland Road, Libertyville.
"Making Spirits Bright," a public caroling party and singalong concert, is a community concert that will benefit the David Adler Music and Arts Center's student scholarship fund, which provides music and art scholarships to students demonstrating financial need.
"We're excited to join forces with Highland Middle School and their performing ensembles for this annual festive community event," Adler Center Program Director Heather Williamson said.
Adler Center students, the Highland Strolling Strings and the Highland sixth-grade choir will perform holiday classics from around the world.
Adler Center faculty will provide live accompaniment as the audience bands together to sing songs of good cheer. Art students will sell handmade ceramic ornaments, and festive baked goods will be available to purchase.
"Caroling concerts are always a lot of fun," Adler Center Program Coordinator Molly Bunder said, "but, in this case, we're also teaching students that they can use their musical talents to give back to the community -- it's a great giving lesson."
The Making Spirits Bright holiday singalong concert is sponsored by Baird & Warner Libertyville. Coffee and hot chocolate will be provided by Hansa Coffee Roasters. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children and may be purchased online at www.adlercenter.org or by calling (847) 367-0707.
