The Vernon Area Public Library held its 4th annual Mini Comic Con Saturday in Lincolnshire. The free event, spanning more than five hours, drew hundreds of fans.

Workshops included Superhero & Jedi Training, with participants dressing as their favorite hero. The Superhero Drawing workshop by illustrator Addie Afable of Artistic Dragon Studios was for kids in grades 3-5. And kids in grades 6 and up were able to transform themselves into a living comic book character in the Comic Book Makeup workshop. Afable also held a Japanese Anime & Manga Drawing Workshop.

And kids had a chance to meet real life heroes -- members of the Lincolnshire police and fire departments.
