Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 has released a superintendent candidate profile that will be used to find a new district leader.

The profile, compiled by search firm BWP and Associates, is based on community input from an online survey and focus groups. More than 500 people took the survey between Sept. 25 and Oct. 1, and about 70 district stakeholders participated in focus groups, officials said.

The firm is now collecting resumes and plans to coordinate interviews with the school board before a new superintendent is named in December or January. Current Superintendent Kate Hyland plans to retire after serving the remainder of her contract, which expires June 30.
