Gurnee police seek armed robber
Gurnee police say they are looking for two armed robbers who stole a laptop computer, two mp3 players, two pairs of headphones and a wallet from a 27-year-old Waukegan man in a parking lot.
Police said the robbery happened about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday near the Best Buy and OfficeMax stores in the 6500 block of Grand Avenue west of Gurnee Mills. Police said the victim was returning to his car with two bags of Christmas gifts when one suspect pushed him into the vehicle. Authorities said the man pushed back, then noticed a knife in the robber's hand.
The suspect got into the victim's car, grabbed the bags and fled to a waiting vehicle. Police said one suspect was a Hispanic man in his 30s, about 5-feet 5-inches tall, 200 pounds with a stocky build. He was reported to have an upside down cross or pitchfork tattoo near his right eye and was wearing a red skull cap, red hooded jacket and blue jeans.
The victim could only say the other suspect spoke Spanish. The getaway car was described as a blue Eagle Talon with black tinted tail and headlights. The vehicle also had a spoiler and the word “Talon” on the brake lights across the trunk. Anyone with information may call Gurnee police at (847) 599-7000.
