Little Angels' “A Magical Night” a resounding success
Little Angels friends and supporters gathered at the Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington Hills on Sept. 17 to celebrate the second annual Angel Songs Gala. The theme, “A Magical Night,” certainly held true.
The evening began with a tour of the Sanfilippo Mansion and performance by “The Harp Twins,” identical twin harpists Camille and Kennerly Diebold.
The festivities continued in the Sanfilippo Carousel House where guests were treated to the song stylings of Jeorge Holmes, magic tricks and illusions by magicians Bob James, Wayne Braun and Jeanette Andrews, a gourmet meal, raffles, silent auction, spirited live auction and a moving video featuring Little Angels families.
The night culminated with a ride on the famous Sanfilippo 1890s French Carousel.
“This night was such a highpoint and fantastic finale to a very busy year,” said Penny Williams, owner of Finishing Touches Design and benefit co-chair. “What a beautiful group effort to make this come true.”
Little Angels is a loving home located in Elgin for children and young adults with severe disabilities and complex medical needs. The Little Angels Center for Exceptional Care, the nonprofit agency that sponsored the gala, fundraises for the residents of Little Angels and owns and operates the Cathy Freeman Center for Developmental Training, which offers a therapeutic day training program to the young adults with severe disabilities.
"Angel Songs" successfully raised $85,000 in support of the Center for Exceptional Care.
Other highlights in the evening included Honorary Chair Roland Harper, record holding former fullback with the Chicago Bears and parent to Little Angels resident- Calvin, talking about what Little Angels has meant to him and his wife Donna.
Also, LeeAnn Trotter, Channel 5 Entertainment Reporter and Angel Songs emcee spoke of the emotional impact the Little Angels video had on her as well as her joy at meeting several of the Little Angels residents in attendance.
