Suk's Imagination Nail & Hair Salon celebrating 35th anniversary

Suk's Imagination Nail & Hair Salon, 1709 W. Golf Road in Mount Prospect, is celebrating 35 years in business on Saturday, June 18. A celebration will be held at the salon from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with giveaways, free raffle drawings and super discounts on all products.

Suk's story is the perfect “American Dream” story. Yon Suk Smith moved to the United States from South Korea in 1970. She was a hair stylist in Korea, and after getting licensed here in the states, she worked full-time at a salon in Des Plaines. After a few years, she had the opportunity to actually purchase her own salon, which is the one in Mount Prospect, in 1976, 35 years ago.

From there, she owned and operated up to 4 salons in Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect. She literally started with nothing and through sheer perseverance, dedication and determination, she was able to achieve things that no one thought possible.
