Avoid Rt. 176 if you can

Officials say it could be hours before a water main break along Route 176 in Wauconda is repaired.

A dispatcher for the Wauconda Police Department said the break occurred this morning in the eastbound lane of Route 176, just east of Ridge Street. He said crews have been on the scene since shortly after 10:45 a.m. and they still aren't sure how long it will take to fix the break.

Traffic is moving slowly along Route 176, which has been reduced to one lane. Motorists are asked to avoid the road and use alternative routes.
