Meyer scholarship

Applications are being accepted through March 1 for the second annual Allen Meyer Memorial Scholarship to be awarded to one high school senior in the Vernon Area Public Library District in the amount of $2,000. Applicants must live within the Vernon Area Public Library District, have been accepted into a higher education program for the 2011-12 school year and either have been an employee or volunteer at the library, or be able to demonstrate how the library has affected their life or educational goals. Applicants must submit a completed online form, a letter of reference, a letter of acceptance and a copy of the student’s most recent high school transcripts. The online form is available on the Vernon Area Public Library website at vapld.info under the “community” menu item. The scholarship is offered by the Friends of the Vernon Area Public Library in honor of former Library Director Allen Meyer, who died in 2008.
