Judge: Chicago man must tell schools about shooting threat
CHICAGO (AP) - A judge says a man accused of threatening to shoot several people at the University of Chicago must tell any college he applies to about his pending criminal case.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Cox issued the order Tuesday against 21-year-old Jabari Dean of Chicago at the request of prosecutors and court personnel.
Dean attended the University of Illinois at Chicago at the time of his November arrest. The Chicago Sun-Times reports (http://bit.ly/1OLgPEH ) attorney Damon Cheronis told Cox that Dean plans to apply to colleges in the coming months. Neither Cheronis nor UIC officials commented immediately on Dean's status at UIC.
Dean has been charged with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce.
An online threat that 16 white people would be shot at the University of Chicago shut down its campus.

This story has been corrected to change the spelling of the spelling of the surname of Dean's attorney to Cheronis, not Chebonis, in the last sentence of the third paragraph.
