Two injured in Antioch crash

Two women were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Antioch, according to the Antioch Fire Department.

At 11:06 a.m., Antioch firefighters received reports of a two-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 173 near Eagle Ridge Drive, authorities said.

According to authorities, both vehicles were headed eastbound on Route 173 at the time of the collision.

One vehicle, a Nissan, sustained heavy damage to its front end, while the other, a Kia, drove into a nearby ditch, authorities said. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Authorities said air bags were deployed on both cars.

Ambulances transported one woman to Advocate Condell Medical Center and another woman to McHenry Hospital.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
