Cooperation can't be just one way

It seems to me that "reaching across the aisle" in politics only seems to apply when it's the Republicans doing the reaching.

When Ken Dunkin attempted to do so here in Illinois, he was accused of being a traitor to his party and even our president endorsed Ken's opponent while he gave no other candidate endorsements.

Interesting, isn't it?, when in Washington there has been so much (and some of it justifiable) criticism of Congress not working with our president.

Perhaps it's time for our Democratic Party to change its name since democracy doesn't seem to any longer be a part of its principles.

And as long as Michael Madigan controls Illinois politics, nothing will ever change and our state will remain in the sorry condition it has been in for far too long.

It's time for change in Illinois if we are ever again to have a balanced budget. No one could ever run their household the way our state is being run without going bankrupt.

Unfortunately, many programs will have to be cut, but we can't keep spending money we don't have. It wouldn't work in our households and it doesn't work in our state.

Personally, I am very disappointed in our elected officials, who don't do anything to change our dismal status quo.
