Fatal crash in Mundelein remains under investigation

A two-vehicle crash in Mundelein that left a motorcycle rider dead remained under investigation Tuesday.

The motorcyclist’s identity hasn’t yet been released.

The crash occurred about 5:25 p.m. Monday on the 700 block of Lake Street, just north of Route 83. A Suzuki motorcycle driven by a 34-year-old man was headed north when it collided with a gray Honda Pilot exiting a gas station on the east side of the road.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene.

No information was available about the Honda’s driver.

Lake Street was shut down between Townline Road and Route 83 for more than two hours after the crash.

Mundelein police and Lake County’s Major Crash Assistance Team are investigating.
