Learn about spring bird count, bird health at forest preserve program

Illinois’ birds face a host of threats — from habitat loss, to global warming, pesticides, herbicides, and collisions with buildings. These perils have adversely affected the state’s bird population, but how bad is the problem and what can we do about it?

Join John Sprovieri, president of Kane County Audubon, from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Barbara Belding Lodge in St. Charles, for a Learn from the Expert program, “Promise or Peril? Annual Spring Bird Count & the Health of Illinois’ Birds.”

Sprovieri will discuss the spring bird count, a yearly census of Illinois’ bird population conducted since 1972, what we’ve learned from the data, and how you can help.

Advance registration is required. The program fee is $10 per person. To view full program descriptions or register, visit kaneforest.com/register. The Barbara Belding Lodge is within Brewster Creek Forest Preserve at 6N921 Route 25, St. Charles.
