Fremd boys, Lake Park girls among conference basketball champs

Several boys and girls basketball conference races are being decided this week. Fremd boys and Lake Park girls each clinched no worse than a share for first with their respective wins Thursday night.

Craig Brueske looked at more races in his weekly DuPage County and Fox Valley boys basketball notes.

Boys wrestling

Thursday was a big night for boys wrestling teams. Barrington and Warren both won dual sectional titles to advance to the team state tournament Feb. 27.

Marmion and Montini’s boys wrestling teams also advanced to state.

Girls gymnastics

The past week was a busy one for girls gymnastics teams competing at regionals. St. Charles co-op capped the week by winning the Fremd regional to advance to next week’s Conant sectional.

Jolee Waddington led Palatine to a regional championship over runner-up Prospect.

Conant also won a regional title.
