Why the double standard?

I have a question for Mayor Johnson and Gov. Pritzker -- why the double standard? If a US citizen commits a crime, you go after him, prosecute him to the full extent of the law and do not protect him. Yet when an immigrant is here illegally, you claim Chicago is a “sanctuary city” and won’t turn over the criminal for prosecution. It certainly looks like a double standard. I’d really like to hear an answer to this one!
