Taste of Glen Ellyn returns Aug. 15-17 to College of DuPage campus

Due to streetscape activity downtown, the Taste of Glen Ellyn will be returning on Thursday to Saturday, Aug. 15-17, to the College of DuPage parking lot No. 6, on the southwest corner of Lambert and College Road in Glen Ellyn.

The three-day, family-friendly event has previously attracted more than 25,000 residents of Glen Ellyn and surrounding communities.

The annual event features a variety of live entertainment, local youth groups, food, cold beverages, business expos, and carnival rides. The free event will be 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday.

The main stage will open on Thursday on Cheap Monarchy at 6 p.m., followed by Hi Infidelity at 8 p.m.

On Friday, Bad Medicine will open the stage at 6 p.m. followed by the headliners Libido Funk Circus at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the local School of Rock will take the stage from noon to 2:30 p.m. Local band, the Vital Signs, returns to perform from 3 to 5 p.m.

The three-day festival will wrap up with Sealed with a Kiss at 5:30 p.m. and 7th Heaven at 8 p.m.

There will be more than 15 rides for all ages, including Mini Helicopters Train, Ferris wheel, slide, Zipper, Predator, Freak Out, fun house, and lots of carnival games.

Carnival tickets are available on site; no online sales this year. Unlimited rides are available from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. It is $30 per person, per day. Prime time unlimited ride specials are 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday for $35.

A portion of the proceeds of the carnival and beer tent will fund the annual scholarship program for local high school students. Additionally, grant money is offered to nonprofit members of the Glen Ellyn Chamber. Nonprofits that volunteer to work the Taste of Glen Ellyn are eligible for grant money distributed at the Sept. 10 Steak Fry event.

Food vendors include: The Original Barone's of Glen Ellyn, Buona Beef, Dirty Dough, Jamba, Javi's Burritos, Lee 'N Eddies, Lee's Concessions, Melting Pot, My Cocina, Rainbow Cone and Strawberry Patch.
