Cameroon holds on for 1-1 draw against Mali at African Cup
MALABO, Equatorial Guinea (AP) - Ambroise Oyongo scored a late goal from close range Tuesday to help Cameroon earn a 1-1 draw with Mali at the African Cup of Nations.
Oyongo latched onto to a long pass from Raoul Loe in the 84th minute and beat Mali goalkeeper Soumaila Diakite.
Sambou Yatabare had given Mali a surprising lead in the 71st, controling the ball with his chest and scoring from a tight angle after a free kick on the other side of the field.
Cameroon, which conceded only one goal in qualifying and came into the match as one of the tournament favorites, had chances earlier in the game but lacked quality finishing.
The draw leaves all four teams in Group D with one point. Ivory Coast drew 1-1 with Guinea earlier Tuesday.
