Papantos back in race for Wheeling village board

Four candidates have filed to run for three seats on the Wheeling village board.

When filing closed at 5 p.m. Monday, three current trustees had filed for re-election along with Mary Papantos, who will be making her third run for the village board.

Incumbents Bob Heer, Dave Vogel and Ray Lang are running.

The April 7, 2015, consolidated local election will elect some mayors, village boards, city councils, school boards, park boards and fire districts.

Papantos frequently attends village board meetings and spoken out on a number of issues, including support for the PhilHaven project, apartments proposed for low-income people with disabilities.

The village board seats are elected for four years. Wheeling Village President Dean Argiris was elected in 2013 and is in the middle of his four-year term.
