Administer Justice offers free consumer debt seminar

The Elgin-based nonprofit Administer Justice is hosting a free seminar on consumer debt from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22.

Topics covered will include legal rights of consumers regarding credit cards, payday loans and dealing with debt collectors.

The seminar will be taught in both English and Spanish by senior staff attorney Pamela Tan. After the seminar, attendees will be provided with referrals and additional resources to assist them with consumer debt issues.

The seminar will be held at 1750 Grandstand Place, Suite 15 in Elgin. Free refreshments will be served. No registration is required.

Administer Justice is a 501(c)3 faith-based legal aid organization which empowers low-income families through its various programs which help create safe families and homes, promote employment and financial stability, and provide freedom from exploitation. In 2015, the organization served more than 2,500 residents with the help of 252 volunteers who donated over 10,000 hours to serving those in need.
