Motorcyclist dies in Addison hit-and-run

A man driving a motorcycle was killed Thursday night in Addison, an apparent victim of a hit-and-run.

Addison Fire Captain Jim Burke said an altercation, possibly stemming from a traffic incident, escalated between the motorcyclist and the driver of another vehicle. Burke didn't know much else, other than the victim died at the scene.

Neighbors say the incident occurred about 7:30 p.m. on the 800 block of South Iowa Street, a residential area near Addison Road and North Avenue. Neighbors who heard the loud noise say they ran out and saw an SUV fleeing north toward Armitage Avenue. It left skid marks at the scene, they added.

Addison police would only say they're investigating a hit and run.
