Naperville's 'Soup's On' raises $100,000

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Naperville and the many needy families in the area, I would like to thank your newspaper for publicizing last Sunday's Soup's On fundraiser. More than 1,800 people attended the event, and we were able to raise approximately $100,000, with proceeds going to Hesed House, Loaves & Fishes, and DuPage PADS in this difficult economic time.

We also owe special thanks to the 27 restaurants and merchants who generously donated all the food and beverages for the event; Tellabs for providing the location; generous donors for the silent auction items; DuPage Children's Museum for providing fun activities for the children; and to the musical ensembles from Naperville School District 203 and Indian Prairie School District 204 for their excellent entertainment. We also would like to thank the many volunteers and attendees as we could not have done this without your joyful support.

We encourage you to support those who stepped forward to help make this fundraiser so successful. You can visit our Web site, www.soupsonrotary.com, to find a complete list of the restaurants, merchants, and sponsors that were such an important part of this effort to help families in need. What a kind and generous community this is.
