White Sox send Torres back to Triple-A Charlotte
After Monday night's game at Seattle, the Chicago White Sox optioned right-handed pitcher Carlos Torres to Class AAA Charlotte.
Torres, 26, is 9-4 with a 2.21 ERA (27 ER/110.0 IP) and 110 strikeouts in 19 games (18 starts) with the Knights in 2009. He has limited opponents to a .199 (79-396) average, struck out 9.0 batters per 9.0 IP and allowed just 4 home runs (0.33 per 9.0 IP).
The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder has made two starts with the Sox this season, going 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA (7 ER/9.1 IP) and 8 strikeouts. He did not factor in the decision in his last start on Aug. 8 vs. Cleveland (4 ER/3.1 IP).
