Fox Valley Credit Union partners with The Venue on free music concerts

Fox Valley Credit Union recently announced its partnership with The Venue, a live music performance room in downtown Aurora. Fox Valley Credit Union will sponsor free First Fridays open house concerts at The Venue, 21 S. Broadway, this fall and beyond.

On Friday, Nov. 1, The Venue will host the first concert sponsored by Fox Valley Credit Union from 6 to 8 p.m. for First Fridays.

Downtown Charlie Brown will perform for the free First Fridays show. The legendary blues band has built a name for themselves in the Chicago area blues scene. They’re known for their approachable and deep catalog of tunes including a mixture of R&B, Delta, New Orleans and Chicago style blues.

On Friday, Dec. 6, The Venue will host another free concert from 6 to 8 p.m. for First Fridays. Musician Dave Sills and his band will perform for the free First Fridays show.

Sills will debut his new album, “More,” which features 12 lyric-driven roots rock songs. Sills will be joined by band members Chris Walke on guitars, Adam Gardner on bass and keys, and Justin O’Connell on drums.

“We are dedicated and community focused,” said Kyle Whelan, CEO of Fox Valley Credit Union. Whelan said that they are one of the few, smaller credit unions serving Aurora and Kendall County. He called the partnership with The Venue “great” since they serve the community through the arts.

The Venue is run by the nonprofit Fox Valley Music Foundation.

Doors will open for both shows starting at 5 p.m. for an open house during the monthly, downtown-wide event. Register online at themusicvenue.org.
