Prospect Heights council to consider city’s first rules on keeping chickens Nov. 25
Prospect Height’s city council is slated to hear plans to regulate residential chickens for the first time Nov. 25.
The council isn’t expected to vote on the regulations until a later date, however.
In September, the planning and zoning board made its recommendations after several months of debate to find a compromise between residents looking for more regulations and those who opposed them.
Among the recommendations are a $90 fee for an initial permit and a $40 annual renewal fee.
Though chickens have been unrestricted since 1976, the pursuit of rules only arose recently after complaints about noise and odors at some properties.
