Dining out: National Sandwich Day, Taylor Swift Eras dinner and more
Sunday, Nov. 3, is National Sandwich Day, and we’ve got some offers for you. There’s also a Swiftie’s dinner dream come true in Wauconda on Saturday and you can still enjoy Halloween at Catch 35 this weekend with a prix fixe dinner.
National Sandwich Day
There are a lot of places you can go on National Sandwich Day, which is Sunday, Nov. 3, and so many things you can put between two (or more) slices of bread. Or, in the case of Fry the Coop, doughnuts. Oh, and Jimmy John’s is swapping out the bread for a sliced pickle. Here are a few limited-time offers to consider.
• The Budlong Southern Chicken and Wing It On! are offering BOGO thigh meat sandwiches on Sunday, Nov. 3, for dine in or online ordering. Use code SANDWICH for online orders.
• Fry the Coop is partnering with Stan’s Donuts for their one-day-only Biscoff Donut Chicken Sandwich for $5. The sandwich features a Biscoff Donut, whipped cinnamon maple sugar butter and Fry the Coop’s signature fried chicken. Sandwiches are available until supplies run out, with a limit of four per person.
• Grubhub is offering BOGO Italian beef sandwiches on orders of $15 or more from Al’s Beef locations. The deal is part of their Gold Days of Grubhub+ celebration, offering perks and deals from national restaurant chains including McDonald’s, Burger King, Chipotle, KFC and more through Nov. 17.
• Jimmy John’s has a new sandwich — the Picklewich — which replaces bread with two halves of a kosher dill pickle. On Sunday, Nov. 3, it’s 50% off for Freaky Fast Rewards members with the purchase of any 8-inch sandwich.
• Paris Baguette is offering $2 off any sandwich or wrap Sunday and Monday, Nov. 3-4.
• At Popeyes, you can get a free chicken sandwich when you make a $10 purchase of other food online or through their app. The offer is good for their classic, spicy or new ghost pepper chicken sandwiches and runs through Nov. 10.
Which era are you?
Swifties, here’s a dinner reservation just for you. The Side Lot in Wauconda is hosting a Taylor Swift-inspired “The Eras Dinner” Saturday, Nov. 2.
The restaurant promises to transform into a “Taylor Swift wonderland” with a culinary journey inspired by her hit songs and iconic albums from the Eras Tour. The six-course menu includes dishes like “Ready For It” tuna tartare, the “’Shake It Off’ I Go On Too Many (Bacon Wrapped) Dates,” and the “Feeling 22” 22-layer potato.
Tickets to the all-ages event are $65 and include a welcome cocktail or mocktail. Choose from the 5 or 7:30 p.m. seatings and then stick around for a free Taylor Swift dance party in the outdoor heated tent.
