Endorsement: Ugaste for Illinois House District 65

Linda Robertson

An incumbent and a familiar challenger are facing off in House District 65.

Current Rep. Dan Ugaste, a Republican from Geneva, is challenged by Linda Robertson, a Democrat from St. Charles. Robertson previously ran against Ugaste in 2022.

Ugaste has proved he can work across the aisle. We appreciate his measured and fair approach, and his experience in Springfield, where he’s advocated for transparency and accountability, is valuable. His website states that he focuses on pro-growth legislation and policies, and his track record shows that. We like that he is focused on lowering taxes, cutting regulation, improving educational opportunities and creating safe communities. We find him willing to listen to others to do what’s best for Illinois.

Robertson was an environmental microbiologist, and the scientific thinking and problem-solving skills she brings to the table could be beneficial in Springfield. And we think she could work well with others who have differing opinions.

Yet, Ugaste was first elected to the Illinois House in 2018, and his direct experience is hard to ignore. We appreciate his practical approach thus far, and his willingness to compromise.

Ugaste deserves to continue representing District 65 in Springfield. He is endorsed.

The 65th House District includes parts of Campton Hills, Elburn, Elgin, Geneva, Lily Lake, South Elgin, St. Charles, Wayne, and West Chicago.
