Endorsement: Reboletti for Illinois House District 45
In the state House 45th District, voters will select either Republican Dennis Reboletti, a former state lawmaker from Elmhurst, or Democrat Martha “Marti” Deuter, an alderman on the Elmhurst City Council.
The seat is open because Democratic incumbent Jenn Ladisch Douglass decided not to seek a second term.
Deuter is an impressive candidate who has served as an Elmhurst alderman for the last 11 years. She has a background as a policymaker and says she believes in compromise and working to bring people together to get things done.
If elected, Deuter said her top priorities would include trying to find ways for the state to ease the financial burdens of families and seniors. She also would prioritize access to reproductive health care in the state and gun violence prevention.
Reboletti served eight years in the state House before leaving in 2015 after an unsuccessful bid for a state Senate seat. He is currently the Addison Township supervisor.
He says he wants to return to the state House because he believes Illinois is on the wrong path and is spending more money than it collects. He says the state government must live within its means.
Reboletti speaks with passion when he talks about the problems caused by one-party rule in Illinois. He says Springfield needs a diversity of opinion.
During his tenure in the House, Reboletti showed he could work with both sides of the aisle. He’s promising to use his background to advocate for Illinois to pass a balanced budget and to focus on public safety and education.
We believe Reboletti would do a fine job representing constituents in the 45th District. He is endorsed.
