Aurora Central Catholic students give ‘Day of Service’ to Marklund

One hundred and ten students and staff from Aurora Central Catholic High School recently gave their time to Marklund as their “Day of Service,” which kicked off their homecoming week.

While onsite at the Marklund Hyde Center campus in Geneva, the students creatively decorated classroom doors for fall and then engaged with the organization’s residents doing various fall-themed crafts, activities and games.

“We are so grateful they chose Marklund for this special project!,” said Nikki Osterloh, manager of volunteer engagement at Marklund. “We usually don’t have groups of this size come all at once, but it worked out perfectly and everyone had a great time.”

Founded in 1954, Marklund is a nonprofit organization that serves children and adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities. It has locations in Bloomingdale, Geneva and Elgin.
