NARFE hosts Cook County Commissioner Maggie Trevor
Cook County Commissioner the Honorable Maggie Trevor was the guest speaker at the July meeting of the Northwest Suburban Marion Payne Chapter 1309 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).
Commissioner Trevor sits on the Cook County Board and represents the 9th District. She gave an overview of Cook County government and talked about some of the many committees on which she serves including Audit, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management and Regional Security, Environment and Sustainability, Finance, Health and Hospitals, Transportation, and the Forest Preserve. Much of the time was spent on questions and answers from the audience. Property taxes and assessments were of particular interest.
In addition, Commissioner Trevor said she is working on trying to get days when household chemicals and other materials could be dropped off in the Northwest suburbs. Those attending were impressed by the breadth of Commissioner Trevor’s knowledge.
NARFE holds a luncheon meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at the Chez Hotel Banquets and Conference Center, 519 W. Algonquin Road, Arlington Heights. Active and retired Federal employees and their guests are invited to attend. Meetings feature speakers on a variety of topics and updates on information relevant to the Federal community.
State Rep. Michelle Mussman is schedule to speak at the meeting on Aug. 14. She will provide an update on what has been occurring in the state legislature.
