Dining out: Three new suburban restaurants, ‘Bachelorette’ viewing party and more
We’ve got some new suburban dining destinations, plus a way to dial up your picnic game for Ravinia concerts and the first Olympics dining promotion we’ve seen.
New restaurant, part one
Chicago Ramen, the fast-growing suburban chain by owner and founder Kenta Ikehata, will host a grand opening for the new St. Charles location on Thursday, Aug. 1.
Ikehata said the ninth location will be different from the others with a special ramen menu as well as sushi and omakase, where diners leave it up to the chef to select and serve seasonal specialties. The new location, at 2400 E. Main St., will be helmed by renowned chef Daisuke Murakami. Chef Daisuke comes from Katsuya in Los Angeles, where Ikehata said he served many a ramen-loving Hollywood celebrity.
New restaurant, part two
Lazy Dog will open its fourth suburban outpost in August at 992 Willow Road in Northbrook.
Designed to feel like a Rocky Mountain Wyoming escape, Lazy Dog features handcrafted American food and drink. The large outdoor patio and dog-friendly menu is a favorite of pup parents.
New restaurant, part three
Fortunato Fish and Oyster recently opened its doors in North Aurora. They promise “an eclectic blend of housemade Italian food with a fresh seafood raw bar.” The interior features a vibrant, comfortable feel and a viewable pasta room to check out the handmade pastas.
Located at 2040 W. Orchard Road, Fortunato is a sister restaurant to the nearby The Turf Room and Hardware. The eatery, which is closed Tuesdays, opens for dinner starting at 3:30 p.m. on the other weekdays and for lunch beginning at noon on weekends. Reservations can be made online via Tock.
Will you accept this rose?
Atlas Chicken in Bartlett is hosting “The Bachelorette” viewing parties at 7 p.m. every Monday. They’ll offer half-price glasses and bottles of wine to enhance the experience. Viewing parties for the longtime ABC show are big hits in the city, so stop by 1048 Army Trail Road for a night of fun, drama and roses.
Picnic in the park
Headed to Ravinia for a concert? Take your picnic game to the next level with a specially created package from Di Pescara in Northbrook.
For $25 per person (minimum two people), you get a choice of soup or salad, entree and chocolate chip cookies for dessert, served in a reusable tote bag with disposable utensils. Trying to impress a special someone? Opt for the Lux Picnic for Two for $89.95, featuring seafood chopped salad, spicy tuna roll, California roll, two Maryland crab cakes with mustard sauce, and a choice of chocolate mousse or Key lime pie. Add on wine and/or nonalcoholic beverages to the order.
Patio season
Fast-casual Mexican chain Guzman y Gomez is embracing summer with extended hours and a limited-time drink deal.
GyG is serving $3 Coronas and frozen margaritas with the purchase of $15 or more in food from now until Aug. 31. They’ll also be open until 11 p.m. at their four suburban locations in Buffalo Grove, Crystal Lake, Naperville and Schaumburg for all your burrito, taco, enchilada and nacho needs.
Go for the gold
The 2024 Olympics start in Paris Friday and California Pizza Kitchen is inviting guests to join in on the excitement with some promotions that run throughout the games, which end Aug. 11.
You’ll be able to raise a glass to Team USA with an all-day happy hour featuring a 50% discount on a special selection of red, white and blue drinks, including red berry sangria, sparkling mojito and blueberry lemon drop.
Plus, they’re serving up a patriotic twist on a popular dessert with the Red, White + Blue Butter Cake. The limited-time treat features CPK’s signature warm butter cake, topped with a mix of fresh strawberries and blueberries and a generous dollop of white vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream.
And if you stop in on Opening Day on Friday, July 26, you can get a free Coca-Cola with any pizza purchase.
