Mundelein man facing multiple felony charges after drug sting
A Mundelein man is facing several felony charges involving the sale of fentanyl and other drugs after a monthslong investigation, authorities said.
Alejandro I. Dominguez, 42, of the 200 block of Archer Ave., was taken into custody Thursday and ordered held for a detention hearing July 23 in Lake County circuit court, according to Lake County sheriff's Deputy Chief Chris Covelli.
Covelli said the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group received information that Dominguez was selling cocaine and pills laced with fentanyl. An undercover operation spanning several months resulted in the recovery of more than 1,300 pills laced with fentanyl and more than 30 grams of cocaine, he added.
Dominguez is charged with four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; five counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; two counts of possession with intent to deliver; and 10 counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
SIG is a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area-funded task force. Federal and local partners include the DEA, FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, ATF and Highland Park, Park City, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Park, Round Lake, Wauconda, Waukegan, Winthrop Harbor and Zion police, Covelli said.
