Take an early summer walk at Pine Dunes Forest Preserve
Wild Ones Lake-to-Prairie Chapter is hosting a walk at Pine Dunes Forest Preserve, 42909 Hunt Club Road in Antioch from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Forest preserve land steward Don Wilson will be the guide on a 2.8-mile gravel loop trail that includes four boardwalks, three scenic overlooks, two oak-hickory savannas and 13 ponds as it passes through prairie, wetlands and streams.
Muskrats and beavers inhabit some of the ponds. A variety of birds and other wildlife including ducks, shorebirds, Sandhill cranes and turtles are frequent visitors.
