Sign up for Hope For Haitians 5K for Education May 11

Hope For Haitians will host the eighth annual 5K for Education on Saturday, May 11, at the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave. in Geneva.

The organization has built 14 villages in Haiti, providing over 600 safe, sturdy homes for the poorest of the poor.

The villages of about 50 homes include a community center, a well, solar lighting. Each village has a governing board, agriculture, and another industry to allow the village to become self-sustaining.

The children of the villages are able to go to school from the money raised in the 5K.

The walk/race begins at 8:30 a.m., with registration, coffee and food, and activities starting at 7 a.m. New this year will be a vendor fair. Local vendors will come to a marketplace at the race site. They will have displays and may offer samples and coupons as they tell you about their products or services.

To register, go to www.hopeforhaitians.org.

Before May 11, the cost is $25 or free for age 12 or younger; it is $30 day of.
