Silva wins Democratic primary for Kane County Board District 7
Incumbent Monica Silva won by a wide margin in Tuesday's Democratic primary for Kane County Board District 7.
Silva had 913 votes and challenger Brian Gravenhorst had 267 votes with both precincts reporting in Kane County and all 11 precincts reporting from the Aurora Election Commission, according to unofficial results.
Silva, 45, said the county could reduce costs by consolidating some of its contracts and supports a sunset clause on the Longcommon Parkway tolls upon repayment of construction bonds.
She does not support reducing the number of county board members and has concerns about abolishing the AEC because the county would be responsible for the cost of running elections.
She also endorses prevention efforts in public health.
