Antioch tops in own tourney

Girls soccer

Mikayla Abbeduto and Tessa Furlong each scored twice, as Antioch's girls soccer team blanked Westosha Central 4-0 to win its own invite Saturday.

Domanique Nelson and Melany Safraniec shared the shutout in goal.

Megan Helgesen had a pair of assists for the Sequoits, who edged Lake Forest Academy 3-2 in their first game of the day. Lauren Slack, Abbeduto and Kristen Kelly scored against LFA, while Abbeduto had an assist.

Antioch (8-2-1) won the tournament with a 3-0 record.

Libertyville 2, Manteno 0: At Olympic Park, the Wildcats got a goal from Mia Hollingsworth assisted by Sydney Mudd and a penalty kick from Lauryn Such to win the PepsiCo Showdown match.

Laura Janousek made 5 saves in goal for Libertyville (3-4-1), which scored both of its goals in the second half.

Lake Zurich 2, Maine South 0: At Olympic Park, Carolyn Radecki scored in the first half and assisted on Blair Coughenour's second-half tally, as the Bears (8-2) pulled out the PepsiCo Showdown game.

Meaghan Gelinas set up Radecki's goal. Keeper Elly Daleske (4 saves) got the shutout with help from Coughenour, Maggie Tuckey, Julia Kuhn, Allison Heinrich, Devon Kennedy, Katie McCurley and Meagan Bens.

Downers Grove North 6, Stevenson 3: At Olympic Park, Ali Tarnoff had a goal and an assist for the Patriots in PepsiCo Showdown action.

Lily Zhang and Megan Petrick also scored for Stevenson (2-6-2). Maddie Vratnick had an assist as well. With two keepers out, freshman Hannah Petrich received her first varsity start in net for the Patriots.

Plainfield North 5, Warren 3: At Olympic Park, Alliyah Parker had 2 goals and an assist for the Blue Devils in the PepsiCo Showdown match.

Kaitlyn Chomko also scored for Warren (5-3-1). Kristen Huard tallied an assist.
