Poll Vault: Do you hire a professional to prepare your tax return?

As of 6 a.m., you have 10 full days and 18 hours to file your federal and state tax returns.

Normally, Tax Day is April 15, but this year the 15th falls on a Sunday and the 16th is a holiday in the District of Columbia, so we all get an extension to the 17th.

Many organized folks already have their refunds. They either filed their own returns early or enlisted the help of a tax professional soon after they received their W-2s.

Others are in a frenzy right now, wishing they hadn’t procrastinated. They might be stumbling into an H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt office with an unorganized box of receipts and a look of abject terror, hoping they don’t owe the government any money.

Which camp do you fall in? Do you prepare your own tax return or use a professional? Will you receive a nice refund or have to write a check to Uncle Sam?
