Former mayor sacrificed for his town

I am a friend of former Island Lake mayor Chuck Amrich.

We worked together for most of the decades I served on the Lake County Board. And I witnessed the hours he put in and the sincere dedication he has for his town. I often wondered why he would drive all the way to Waukegan on Wednesday nights to attend meetings. Of course. It was for his town. His village. His neighbors.

It was there we became friends.

Like hundreds of others, I was horrified to see what he had to go through to somehow prove that he is the person we all know.

Again, Charles Amrich hung in there. See you around, Chuck.
