Quick facts: Two-time all-star and the 2007 NL Cy Young Award winner is rehabing an ankle injury but may be ready to pitch in minors Aug. 15.
Key stats: Has averaged 9.0 strikeouts per 9.0 IP in career, while limiting the opposition to a .232 average.

• Clayton Richard, 25, left-handed pitcher, was 4-3 with a 4.65 ERA (46 ER/89.0 IP) in 26 games (14 starts) with Sox in 2009. Allowed only 2 runs in 16 innings over last 2 starts.
• Aaron Poreda, 22, left-handed pitcher, went 3-4 with a 2.72 ERA (17 ER/56.1 IP) and 59 strikeouts in nine starts this season in AAA Charlotte and AA Birmingham.
• Dexter Carter, 23, a right-handed pitcher, was 6-2 with a 3.13 ERA (41 ER/118.0 IP) and 143 strikeouts in 19 starts with Class A Kannapolis.
• Adam Russell, 26, a right-handed pitcher, was 2-2 with a 3.20 ERA, 5 saves and 51 strikeouts in 34 relief appearances with Charlotte.
