Sox send Fields to AAA Charlotte

MINNEAPOLIS - To make room for new outfielder Mark Kotsay, the Chicago White Sox have optioned infielder Josh Fields to Class AAA Charlotte.

Kotsay, acquired yesterday from the Boston Red Sox, is expected to join the White Sox in time for tonight's series finale in Minnesota.

Fields, 26, is batting .220 with seven home runs and 30 RBI in 71 games this season with the White Sox.
