She is averaging 15.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, and a WNBA-leading 4.1 blocks per game. Last week, she set the WNBA record for most blocks in a game with 11 against Tulsa. Off the court, Griner is trying to have just as much of an impact. She is taking on bullying, staring it down like a hated opponent.

Even without the league’s No. 2 scorer, who was sidelined with a flare-up of Lyme disease, the Sky almost pulled off the win, falling 80-76 to the Storm on Tuesday night. “It didn’t alter (game plans) from the standpoint of our intent of what we wanted to do on the offensive end,” Agler said. “But defensively Delle Donne is a different kind of player so we would have had to give her a lot of attention.”
