    Aidan A. Gleason, 19, of South Elgin, was charged with driving under the influence and disobeying a traffic control device at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday after a traffic stop at Bowes and Randall roads near Elgin, according to a sheriff’s report.

    The Suburban Law Enforcement Academy at College of DuPage recently graduated 51 recruits representing 37 police agencies in Northern Illinois. The ceremony honored the recruits for completing 12 weeks – 480 hours – of basic law enforcement officer training which began this past spring.

     
  • Fox Valley police reports Jul 9, 2014 5:50 PM
    Somsanouk Manikham, 32, of Elgin, was charged July 1 with no valid driver's license, according to a West Dundee Police Department news release. He was stopped by police while traveling west on Main Street. At the time, he had two active warrants charging him with traffic offenses in Kane County. Manikham was released on recognizance for the no driver’s license charge, but he was unable to post the bond for the active warrants.

  • West Dundee man accused of assaulting 3 children Jul 3, 2014 5:14 PM
    A 34-year-old West Dundee man is being held on $500,000 bail after his arrest this week on charges that he sexually assaulted and sexually abused three children, two of whom were under 12, from January 2013 through June 2014. Marcus L. Arvizo faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the most severe charge.

    Carolyn Kasper and Betsy Little were named "Rotarians of the Year" by the Dundee Township Rotary Club. The club also is beginning its new year with the theme "35/50," which ties in with the goal to reach 50 members by next June. 2015 also marks the club's 35th anniversary.

  • Woman accused of selling cocaine near East Dundee school Jul 3, 2014 5:14 PM
    A 30-year-old Carpentersville woman was arrested and charged with selling cocaine to an undercover officer in East Dundee. Cheryl L. Boyk is being held on $100,000 bail and faces a minimum of six years in prison if convicted of selling drugs within 1,000 feet of a school. She is next due in court on July 9.

    Five youth and two adult chaperones, Jeff Van Natta and the Rev. Diana Otterbacher from Hampshire, recently volunteered at the "Stay" Mission Trip, sponsored by Marengo United Methodist Church, that called for help in cleaning up the former McGill factory site in hopes of using it for a day care and multiuse community center.
